June 11th Haikus

I.

First days of summer

sweep away whites and yellow –

soluble ink stains

II.

The slip of these months

the pluck of bluebells – startled

tympanic membrane

III.

Cherries, slush-smashed.  Skinned.

Newborn blue – last skim of sky,

thickening yellow

IV.

Breath sounds catch in wind.

Organ pipes play triplets – Blue

deepens after rain

V.

The way air shatters

from trunk to leaf tops – quavers

plucking branches bare
